Glass Recycling – Italy
Country: Italy
Scope: Revamping of a glass grinding plant for scrap recycling
Material origin: Incoming glass scrap (feeding and pre-treatment)
Storage: Hoppers/accumulation buffers and continuous flow management
Process phases: Drying, crushing, grinding, classification
Downstream management: Discharge, particle size separation, and conveying to product storage
Destination: Ground glass ready for reuse as secondary raw material
Focus: Process stability, particle size control, downtime reduction, and yield optimization
Objective
To revamp the grinding plant to increase reliability and production continuity, improve the quality of the finished product (constant particle size), and make scrap management more efficient throughout the entire line.
Implementation
Zetacer carried out the plant revamping by intervening in the main process sections (drying, crushing, grinding, and classification) and the integration of flows between the machines. The activity involved mechanical and layout adjustments to make the line more manageable, reduce variability and bottlenecks, and ensure material discharge/storage consistent with the standards required for reuse.
